South East Hampshire Community Outlook

What We Do

SEHCO is a registered charity that was originally established to provide activities for young people living in social housing in Portsmouth and South East Hampshire. It exists to promote community – and we run three thriving community centres, each of which is available for hire. We are also leading a major Big Lottery funded initiative that delivers arts and sports activities for local 10 – 18 year olds. Our latest project is the development of Unit 3, an arts centre situated in the heart of a social housing estate in Fareham.

To provide these services, SEHCO has a small number of paid employees and a group of active and committed volunteers. It also helps voluntary groups throughout the area that have similar aims. In the decade since it was created, SEHCO has secured funding from First Wessex, Lloyds TSB, The Big Lottery, Portsmouth City Council, Fareham Borough Council and others to help undertake this work.

A progressive organisation, SEHCO continues to evolve but it remains true to its roots. It is led by the community for the community.

Community Rooms

SEHCO runs three thriving community centres in Portsmouth and Fareham, offering comfortable, flexible, Wi-Fi-equipped space. These are bookable for meetings, training, parties, and other activities.

SEHCO's Step Forward project for young people aims to deliver a wide range of purposeful active and/or creative activities that will enable young people to improve motivation, confidence, skills and future employability needs.
