Play Parks for Hayling, a local group supported by the council have been extremely active to ensure new play equipment is installed in Mengham Play Park on Hayling Island. As part of the redevelopment the play area gained an incredibly artistic and highly detailed seaside mural.
Working in partnership with Play Parks for Hayling, the SEHCO Step Forward Project, funded by the Big Lottery, created opportunities for 82 young people from Hayling College to submit their design ideas for the mural. This then led to 18 young people’s work forming the final design.
South East Hampshire Community Outlook then commissioned the assistance of internationally recognised artist Keith K Hopewell to undertake the designing, rendering and painting of the wall with the chosen seaside theme.
“I am delighted with this wonderful mural which is a result of joint working between Havant Borough Council, PP4H and the SEHCO Step Forward project. It certainly finishes off the refurbishment of Mengham Play Park beautifully.”
The Mayor of Havant, Councillor Leah Turner – A founding member of PP4H
